I seriously just had the camera out and said, SP, can you show us some dance moves? This is what she did. Notice the very rare appearance of jammies (they were put on when she woke up because our house was so darn cold.)

Well, these videos are about two weeks apart but one day she is dragging herself along on her belly and the next she is up on hands and knees. This was her very first day of actual crawling. Smarty Pants is always there giving us her commentary. Oh, and she was fine on the landing in the first video, it ends on what appears as a bad note.

My mini is in the US and undergoing its US citizenship process, YIPEE! It must be proud to be coming here under the hopes and dreams of our newly elected president, but truly sad to be living in a state that discriminates against humans. Shame on California, there is not excuse for the way you acted yesterday.

Here we are. This is before the race, it was very very cold. They canceled the swim due to a light breeze (well they claim it was more, but I am bitter). We are already planning for the next one.

Baylee: Hmmm, I don't feel very well all of a sudden, I better go find a nice carpeted area preferable under a table with lots of chair legs that would be hard for someone to get to.

Oh yes, I was right, I need to puke.

Whoaa, she is yelling my name and running toward me, I better run to a new location for the next episode.

Yikes, can't she see that I don't feel well? Why is she chasing me all around the house? It also seems strange that she has left every door in the house open, it is not usually that easy for me to get in and out. That is really nice but I definitely don't want to go out right now, my tummy is upset and I may need a new carpet area any time now.

What kind of owner are you, throwing your obviously under the weather cat out one of those open doors. I just might not bring a nice fresh mouse or bird home for you today, so there!

T has a new job. He is the winemaker for Jarvis Winery. I have not been there yet myself but everyone who has says it is a beautiful place. He is working underground again so he will have to make an effort to soak in the sun when he can.

There is no one holding this cabinet up off the floor, we managed to wedge it between two door frames. Although we were laughing at the time we were really also struggling to get it out. The door fell open and somehow we couldn't get it closed and couldn't move it with it open. Anyway, it took about 15 minutes and the door jams are not quite the same but it is no longer hovering like a Houdini assistant.

Well, our little tadpole may not be quite ready to move up to guppy status this summer but she has made some great progress. You can see here her first day of swim lessons and then the next week. They always end the lesson by going off the diving board. Greg Louganis watch out.

T's aunt and uncle who own an Inn on the Chetco River were nice enough to let us invade thier place for a long weekend. That is 10 families and with each cousin having at least one child you can probably imagine the chaos and fun that was involved. There was kayaking, tie die, family olympics, puppy Cody and the ultimate best of the worst beer taste off (PBR or Hamms). Winner is ... PBR! Fun was had by all.

Vacation part 2 of 3 - Dining with the King of Jordan

We spent a night at the Benbow Inn on our way to Oregon. We noticed when we arrived that there were police with dogs checking out the place. The next morning the hotel was full of activity. There were half a dozen motorcycle cops and a couple of cruisers, secret service, so I finally asked what was going on. They told me the King of Jordon was staying there, and I wondered if it was just what they say to curious hotel guests. We hung out on the front deck just long enough to hear one of his peeps asking about a map and they informed him that it was Silverado Trail and it leads to the town of Calistoga (what a small world - the Napa Register did confirm that he visited Napa). We went to breakfast and 20 minutes in a phone beeps, the people in the tables around us get up as a line of people file in and the King falls out and signals everyone down. Turns out he was on a motorcyle tour of the west coast. Little did we know the dining room was infiltrated with his peeps, and once we knew we did notice that they were all openly packing heat. Not the most calming effect for a family with a crying baby, neither of us dared reach for the camera. He did seem very relaxed in his jeans and t-shirt.

Vacation part 1 of 3 - The Beach House

The first part of our trip was at a beach house in Mendocino County with my family. A fun house with awesome views of the ocean and fun blue stairs that led to an outdoor deck and a room in the attic (smarty pants dubbed it her "home"). We played on the beach, on wii fit and learned how to play Mah Jong. The first morning we woke up to a constant flow of fire trucks (at least 30 or so) headed north to fight fires. Our wine selection wasn't bad either.

My mom pulled it off, she surprised my dad for his 60th! That is not an easy feat and boy are we all happy to have that secret out in the open. Every time I saw them I was afraid I would blow it.

p (aka monkey) had a long weekend, I think she slept in peoples arms for 80% of the time.

t (aka smarty pants) requested Puff the Magic Dragon. It is her favorite song since PZ played it at the camp fire.

My parents also just celebrated their 36th wedding anniversary. Congrats!

Fair enough, I think that is tomorrow sometime. Time is funny in general, she often starts off her stories with "Yesterday, a very very very long time ago..."

It seems that hunting season has opened up in our neighborhood and Baylee (featured here in the front on the right) has been doing more than her fair share of it. Due to her habit of bringing them into our room to continue the game of chase at 5am she has recently lost her in and out privileges (and therefore so has Murphy) at night. We only need a wake up call from p at this point.
